Description

Before the new bridge that went into Chincoteague was designed and built, an older metal bridge built on a swivel to allow taller marine traffic to pass had been there and was an icon of this area’s past. You didn’t make it on wheels to Chincoteague without traversing this iron structure. It was the gateway for many a vacationing family to enter this magical stretch of land. This bridge symbolizes the more historic fishing community that was there before. For industrial conveyance, color is utilized to enhance the composition with beautiful blue water that anchors the bridge from which it sits. Chincoteague, Virginia, is located on the Delmarva peninsula close to the Maryland state line. It was one of the small fishing communities back in the day, featuring the rich tradition of the waterman culture. Today, it is an understated vacation getaway as it proudly features rich coastal traditions, warm breezes, and the annual pony swim in July. You can also see rockets launch from the adjacent Wallops Island as NASA has an installation complete with a launch pad, airstrip, and visitor’s center.
