Description
Crabbing is a rich part of the fabric and culture of the Atlantic coastal area. This is passed down from generation to generation as the local children are raised with the knowledge of the blue crab and the impact this industry has on a community and the overall effect on the local economy. Chincoteague, Virginia, is located on the Delmarva peninsula close to the Maryland state line. It was one of the small fishing communities back in the day with a rich tradition of the waterman culture. Today, it is an understated vacation getaway as it proudly features rich coastal traditions, warm breezes, and the annual pony swim in July. You can also see rockets launch from the adjacent Wallops Island as NASA has an installation complete with a launch pad, airstrip, and visitor’s center.
